In 2023, Doranova constructed the Solidferm biogas plant at the Jokioinen research farm of the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke). The biogas plant in Jokioinen processes slurry, solid manure, and grass biomass in a 1,100 m³ biogas reactor. The produced biogas is upgraded into heat and electricity using a CHP unit and a separate gas boiler.
The plant’s design specifically took into account Luke’s research needs and the plant’s energy efficiency. Combined with remote-controlled automation and extensive data collection, this setup provides an excellent platform for biogas research in Finland.
