Project baseline:
- The client: Binh Duong Water – Environment Joint Stock Company (BIWASE)
- Landfill begin operating in 2000, will be closed in 2020
- Area of the landfill 5.5 ha, depth 40–50 meters
- Estimated organic fraction 50–70%
Project execution:
Doranova designed, delivered and installed a landfill gas collection and utilization system which included 20 gas collection wells, separate gas lines to the pumping station, membranes and soil fillings for the old landfill, gas pumping station, gas filters, and a 1.6 MW generation capacity CHP-equipment. The gas pumping station and the CHP-equipment were delivered in containers meaning that the shipment costs could be maintained within reasonable limits. The single integrated system is remotely controlled and thus enables remote diagnostics and local staff guidance from Finland.
The delivery consisted of construction and earthmoving machines separately purchased from Vietnam, transportation equipment, and a small waste incineration plant. The project was executed as a total contract during 2/2017–1/2018.
Impact:
With the help of this project, BIWASE was able to reduce the methane emissions originating from the landfill markedly, but also to produce almost all the electricity required by the robust waste treatment lines.
