New biogas plant concept for challenging waste streams and direct injection method for soil remediation – both industry-leading solutions will be introduced to markets in 2018

18.12.2017 emmi

The year 2018 will be hectic in terms of new technological innovations. In the first quarter of the year, Doranova will introduce a new kind of biogas plant concept that is engineered especially for challenging organic waste streams such as drum separated bio waste. In addition to this, the recently published direct push method for more efficient soil and groundwater remediation has been adopted with enthusiasm by Doranova’s clients.

–  The year 2018 will be extremely exciting in terms of new technical innovations, says the CEO of Doranova, Mr. Antti Myllärinen and continues:  –  We have been developing a totally new kind of biogas plant concept for two years now. The main target of this development initiative has been to develop a biogas plant concept that is reliable and cost-efficient also with impure waste fractions.

The biogas plant concept is currently going through a patenting process and will be introduced in the first quarter of the year 2018. The concept is specially designed to meet the needs of the developing markets in where waste separation usually takes place at the landfill. –  Doranova’s view is that the best gas quality can be reached with wet fermentation technology but in many cases waste impurities endanger the cost-efficiency of this approach. For this reason, a modular, relatively simple and reliable dry fermentation process in where the hygienization of the digestate has got a special attention is the best approach for sustainable and profitable biogas production, says Myllärinen. The first client delivery of this plant is already agreed, and the construction will start in the second half of the year 2018, concludes Myllärinen.

In addition to the new biogas plant concept, Doranova introduced a new direct push injection system, DoAct® DIRECT in the previous newsletter. DIRECT-technology allows Doranova to do injections to moraine soils and to also go through blasted stone layers that are commonly met on projects that are conducted in an urban environment. The methodology has raised a great interest among Doranova’s clients and first three projects have already been agreed for the next summer. –  The feedback from the clients has been extremely positive and during the winter months our aim is to produce a short introduction video about the technology to better showcase the benefits of DoAct® DIRECT, says the Head of Soil and Groundwater Remediation, Mr. Perttu Mattila.
