With the dawn of summer, Doranova began cleaning up contaminated soil in the former factory area in Kurikka. Remediation is done using the thermal in situ method.
– The site has previously undergone mass exchanges and biological in situ remediation using the ARD method in the 2000s. The remediation of the emission source to be carried out now will be done by thermal desorption, says Perttu Mattila, Doranova’s Head of Soil and Groundwater Remediation.
Demolition and installation work has already been carried out on the factory site in Panttila, Kurikka, and the project has progressed to the commissioning phase of the equipment. Doranova and Krüger from Denmark are working together to carry out the remediation project. Krüger, part of the Veolia Group, brings thermal desorption know-how to the project, and Doranova is responsible for the recovery and further processing of volatile compounds. In addition, Doranova has been responsible for demolition and other preparations.
